Boarding, looking back at the dome
You come out of the dome across the walkway and onto deck 3. Remember this deck, because you'll be back here in a couple of hours for the lfeboat drill. |
|
|
|
Problems Loading
They had some problems getting supplies and luggage on board as it was a very low tide and the loading doors were completely below the dock. The forklift drivers couldn't actually see where they were putting things. |
|
|
|
Problems Loading pt. 2
As a result of this, they had an accident and one of the workers broke his leg. We were late pulling away from the dock, but who cares, we were on board our new home for the next week and ready to have fun. |

It never rains in Southern California.
There was a song by that title back in the 70's that was a hit. Of course the refrain also included the line, "but, man, it pours." This was the aft pool on the lido deck the day we boarded. |

Still the Queen
A look at the Queen Mary and the dome under rainy skies. The company that runs the QM is in bankruptcy as they owe the city a lot of rent, but it still has that classic liner look. |

Sushi Bar
A popular place pre-dinner, the sushi bar was in front of the Starry Nights lounge. Several different items were offered each night, free of charge. By the way, you won'tfind any pictures of the Starry Nights Lounge here. That's where they do karaoke, which properly translated means "when cows sing," shudder. |

What am I doing out here at night? |

Pretty deserted at night, again why am I out here? |

Oh, that's right, there's a party out here tonight!
Looking aft from the divider between the two areas. |

Lido Party

Lido Party 2
And food!
This is looking forward. During lunch they serve hamburgers and hot dogs from the one like this on the port side. |

Lido Party 3
And more dancing! |

Beauties Disco
Of course if you really want to dance, head to Beauties and you can dance 'til the morning comes.
This is from the upstairs looking down. |

Casino
If dancing isn't your thing, you can try your luck in the casino!
The view from aft. There's a bar at the far right of the picture, where a guy played keyboards. |

The view from forward. Lots of slots to the left that didn't make it into the photo. |

Greg Kneale's Restaurant in PV
Unfortunately, it was closed due to a lack of staff (still working on training some and the trained ones needed a day off, something I can agree with.) But, I'm sure they'll be open next time I'm down there. Save me some food! |

Street artist in PV
This is in a plaza down by the ocean. A beautiful girl playing violin extremely well, a guy accompanying her on keyboards. Great night to be alive.
Not a very good picture but I didn't want to use the flash and ruin the mood.
No pictures from during the day. I was busy having fun! |

Cruise Terminal Mazatlan
You have to take the tram from the ship to the exit. The tram can be seen just over the building. The exit is the pink building at the top. The tram is free and required. It really is a safety measure as this is a working port and when the cruise ships aren't here they receive all sorts of stuff here (like autos.) |
|
|
|
$$ for a taxi
How much to go where,in Mazatlan from the terminal. |
|
|
|
Turn to Water taxi
You go out the gate, turn left, walk about 5 minutes, follow the red arrow and there you are. Behind me is a military facility with some very friendly guards who got ver un-friendly if I pointed the camera that way. There is also another water taxi dock about twice as far the other way. |
|
|
|
What's that odor?
This is the sewage treatment plant at the base of the hill the light house is on. It really smelled rank as the ship went out that night. |
|

Harbor from the light house
From the foreground, you have the fishing boats, then the ferry terminal, then the water taxi dock, then the Cruise ships, Celebrity's Mercury and the Carnival Pride |
